NVIDIA has officially released the new RTX Pro 5000. This is a professional GPU built on the next-generation Blackwell architecture.

While the new architecture brings speed, the most exciting feature is the memory capacity. This card comes with a staggering 72GB of GDDR7 VRAM.

This release redefines what a single workstation card can handle.

Why Nvidia made this GPU?

For many professionals, memory capacity is more important than raw compute speed. The move to 72GB opens up new possibilities because there was a big gap between 48GB VRAM variant and 96GB VRAM Pro 6000. This card fills that.

  • For AI & Deep Learning: You can load massive Language Models (LLMs) entirely onto a single card. This allows for faster training and smoother inferencing of complex AI models.

  • For 3D Rendering: Artists can load enormous scenes with 8K textures and complex geometry directly into the GPU memory. This ensures real-time responsiveness and faster final renders.

  • The Speed of GDDR7: The card uses the newest GDDR7 memory technology. This means data moves in and out of that massive 72GB memory buffer incredibly fast, keeping the powerful Blackwell cores busy.

Full Technical Specifications

1. The Memory GDDR7

This card uses GDDR7 SGRAM. Unlike GDDR6, which used "NRZ" or "PAM4" signaling, GDDR7 uses PAM3 signaling. With 1,344 GB/s of memory bandwidth and ECC (Error Correction Code).

2. Blackwell Architecture

The chip inside is the GB202-based silicon, manufactured on the custom TSMC 4N process.

  • CUDA Cores: 14,080 Cores. This is a massive leap over the previous generation's ~8,000 cores. For FP32 workloads (standard rendering/compute), the raw throughput is nearly doubled.

  • Clock Speeds: While official boost clocks are dynamic, the Blackwell architecture is designed to sustain higher clocks (~2.5 GHz+) under heavy AVX workloads without throttling, thanks to improved thermal density management.

3. AI & Tensor Cores (5th Generation)

If you work in AI, this is your section.

  • Core Count: 440 Tensor Cores.

  • FP4 Precision: 5th Gen Tensor cores support FP4 (4-bit floating point).

  • AI Throughput: With structural sparsity enabled, this card can churn out over 2,000 AI TOPS (Trillion Operations Per Second) for inferencing.

4. Ray Tracing (4th Generation)

For the media & entertainment crowd (Maya, Blender, V-Ray):

  • Core Count: 110 RT Cores.

  • Opacity Micromap Engines: These specialized hardware units handle "alpha testing" (like rendering leaves on a tree or chain-link fences) significantly faster.

  • DLSS 4.0 Support: The new Multi-Frame Generation is supported at the hardware level, allowing for smoother viewports even in massive, unoptimized scenes.

5. Connectivity & Display

  • Outputs: 4x DisplayPort 2.1b.

  • PCIe Gen 5.0: The card utilizes the full x16 lane bandwidth (up to 64 GB/s bi-directional).
