Workstation for ANSYS

Workstation for ANSYS

Our workstations for ANSYS are rigorously tested and optimized to deliver superior performance and reliability, with configurations designed for both CPU- and GPU-based simulations.

ANSYS System Requirements

Like many software developers, ANSYS provides a list of system requirements to ensure your hardware is compatible and performs well with their software. This guide offers a simplified Q&A based on ANSYS's recommendations and additional insights from our consultants.

ANSYS benefits from a moderate number of CPU cores. While ANSYS lists a minimum of 4 cores, having 8 to 16 cores is ideal for optimal performance. For top performance, the Intel Core i9 13900K is an excellent choice. It features 8 high-performance cores with top-tier clock speeds and 16 efficiency cores for multitasking. The newer Intel i9 14900K is also highly capable, though it may not be available in all compact workstations.

For basic ANSYS tasks, a mid-range GPU with at least 4GB of VRAM is sufficient. However, for advanced simulations and rendering, a high-performance GPU is beneficial. NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 40 Series, such as the RTX 4070 SUPER 12GB or RTX 4080 16GB, provides robust performance. For even more demanding applications, NVIDIA's professional RTX A-series cards, which offer up to 48GB of VRAM, are excellent choices.

How much memory (RAM) does ANSYS need?

ANSYS recommends a minimum of 32GB of RAM. For larger simulations or if running multiple applications simultaneously, 64GB is preferable. While our standard ANSYS workstations offer up to 64GB, we also provide configurations for additional memory if your workload demands it.

What is the best type of drive to use for ANSYS?

A high-speed NVMe SSD is essential for efficient performance with ANSYS. We suggest using a mid-size SSD for the operating system and ANSYS software, with a secondary SSD for storing project files and data. This setup ensures that your data remains unaffected during OS reinstallation and allows easy transfer to another system if necessary.

What sort of drive is best for data storage and backup?

For long-term storage and backups, traditional hard drives or external drive arrays are cost-effective solutions. Network-attached storage (NAS) systems are ideal as they offer shared access across multiple workstations and typically include data redundancy features to protect against drive failure.
